Handmade habitats & properly odd animal things

Made for the animal.
Built around real life.

Oddball Animal Works creates custom enclosure backdrops, climbing routes, hides, waterfalls, fog and lighting provisions, soft goods and one-off pieces that start with one question: what would make this setup work better for the animal living in it?

Real work from the bench

As the business grows,
this wall grows with it.

Finished and progress work published from Studio appears here only when we have recorded permission to share it publicly.

More than a textured wall

A backdrop can be part of the whole habitat system.

For the right project, the backdrop can be planned around water, humidity, climbing, lighting, sensors and future servicing — rather than adding those things afterward and hoping they fit.

Waterfalls, fog, mist & drainage

Waterfall faces, fog outlets, pump/service pockets, reservoirs, mist points, catchments, drains, overflows and concealed tubing can be shown on the design before anything is built.

Lighting, sensors & hidden services

LED accents, feature-light locations, fixture provisions, controller recesses, cable routes, probe positions, ventilation and service access can be integrated into the layout.

Useful features disguised as part of the landscape

Caves, removable hides, ledges, branch anchors, feeding points, planter pockets, substrate dams and future-expansion access can be made part of the visual design.

A design should show where things live, not just what they are called.
Built together without the chaos

You approve a version.
Not a moving target.

Your private project page keeps the useful bits together: quote revision, design, progress photos, files and messages. Position changes can be suggested on the layout; new scope still comes back through us so nothing quietly becomes included by accident.

  • ✓ Exact quote revision stays recorded
  • ✓ Approved layout stays locked
  • ✓ Later ideas become proposed revisions
  • ✓ Progress photos can appear as the build moves

The Oddball way

Personal and handmade.
Still organised.

We love the creative part, but the boring-important part matters too: measurements, scope, price, approval, access, progress and handover.

01Throw us the idea.

Photos, rough dimensions and “I wish this did…” are enough to begin.

02We turn it into a useful brief.

Animal, enclosure, access, cleaning, climbing, water, lighting and the awkward bits.

03You see the actual proposal.

Scope, quote and layout are visible before the workshop commits.

04Then we build it.

Progress stays connected to the project rather than disappearing into random messages.

Useful before you even enquire

Guides for the bits
people usually get stuck on.

Good search content should actually help. These are written around questions that come up when planning custom enclosure work.

Why Oddball exists

It started with animals we genuinely care about.

Oddball Animal Works grew from living with and caring for animals ourselves, noticing the little compromises that appear when a product was designed for an average enclosure instead of the real one in front of you.

That is why we want the finished piece to feel considered, useful and personal — not mass-produced with a “custom” label stuck on the end.

Have an idea that does not fit neatly in a dropdown?

Excellent.
Tell us about it.

You do not need a finished design to start. Send the animal, enclosure, photos, rough measurements and the thing you wish worked better.
